Florida RV Golfing

Vacationers who love the thought of hitting the links, and then relaxing in a comfortable RV will find plenty to make them happy in sunny Florida. The Sunshine State caters to avid golfers, and RV resorts including or within walking distance of golf courses abound to keep us coming back. Here's a list of just a few of the Florida RV campgrounds with golf courses on-site or nearby.

Fabulous Florida RV Golfing Destinations
Within sight of NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Titusville, Florida is home to The Great Outdoors, an RV nature and golf resort. In addition to tree-shaded campsites, this Central Florida resort includes a championship 18-hole golf course. This huge resort also includes private fishing lakes, a fitness center and other unique amenities.

Also in Central Florida, Grand Lake Golf & RV Resort offers RV campers a wide selection of campsites, surprisingly hospitable services and a challenging 9-hole golf course. No wonder it was rated "One of the Top Nine Resorts" by USA Today! You'll find this resort in Citra, located between Ocala and Gainesville.

Deer Creek RV Golf Resort in Davenport is home to palm tree shaded campsites, a fabulous clubhouse and a respectable 18-hole executive golf course. Primarily a retirement community, Deer Creek does offer daily rentals, as well.

For a fun-filled weekend for the whole family, try Okeechobee KOA. There's a 9-hole par 34 golf course to keep golfers happy while the rest of the family fishes, swims, boats or plays tennis. Did we mention there are three pools, tennis courts and an outdoor movie theater? This is definitely an RV/Golf resort that will tempt your family to return.

Here's another way to enjoy a great round of golf while camped at a scenic RV campground—make a reservation at Sanlan RV Park in Lakeland. Walk through the private campground entrance to adjacent Bramble Ridge golf course. Twenty-seven holes of golf await you on a gorgeous tree-shaded course, and all campers play at a discount.

For an RV campground near golf courses, as well as the theme parks of Central Florida, Ponderosa RV Park in Kissimmee is a hole-in-one. No fewer than twenty golf courses are within easy range, so make your reservations soon and plan to play more than one course while you're there.

One last park that's noteworthy for the number of nearby golf courses is The Harbor RV Resort & Marina on the shores of Lake Rosalie. Located in Lake Wales, FL, this park is conveniently close to more than forty golf courses. It also offers you the chance to do some serious fishing in between rounds. Camp in your RV among Spanish-moss draped trees and plan some time to explore the lakes and canals in the area.

Florida is simply overflowing with sunshine, theme parks and interesting golf venues. Roll your motorhome down the road to your favorite Florida RV and golf park and spend as much time as you'd like out on the greens this vacation.

RV Camping to Everglades National Park

Hoping to find a place you can take your entire family on vacation this year? We want to put in our bid for an RV camping trip to Everglades National Park. The world-famous "Sea of Grass" covers more than a million acres and it promises fascinating activities for everyone in your group.

When you visit South Florida's Everglades, you'll find them home to an incredible array of plant and wildlife species. Frogs, toads, salamanders and, of course, alligators, are just a few of the species to be seen on a tour through this Park. Nature lovers will also find subtropical species of plants everywhere they look, side-by-side with ancient stands of cypress trees and pine forests.

Whether your family likes boating, hiking, biking or just plain sightseeing, you can't go wrong visiting the Everglades. Hundreds of miles of trails wind through widely-varied habitats that will definitely keep your cameras clicking.

Here are our top picks for ways to experience the Everglades:
  • Airboat Ride: Numerous airboat tour vendors up and down the Everglades offer thrilling airboat tours. Skip across grass and water and get to know Everglades wildlife up close and personal.
  • Canoe/Kayak Tour: Boat rental concessions within the Park can supply a canoe or kayak to adventurous RV campers. One note: navigating through the Everglades in this way is best left to experienced boaters. EcoMariner.com also offers an online course in eco-friendly boating while in the Everglades.
  • Tram Tour: If you'd like to let someone else drive as you explore the Everglades, Shark Valley Tram Tours is a great choice. Not only do they provide comfortable transportation, they also stop along the route to allow you time to experience nature for yourself.
  • Bike Trails: Well-marked bike trails throughout the Everglades allow active visitors a chance to enjoy the Park even more. One favorite trail reported by our customers is the fifteen-mile loop near the Shark Valley Observation Tower.
RV Camping Inside the Park
Inside Everglades National Park are two campgrounds that can accommodate RV campers. Long Pine Key Campground is a large first-come, first-served campground adjacent to hiking and biking trails. Flamingo Campground isn't full service, but does have campsites near the water. If you're planning to camp here, be sure to use the link to make reservations.

RV Camping Outside the Park
Miami Everglades Campground is a wonderful place to come home to after a day spent in the Everglades. Ten miles from Everglades National Park, this campground offers a large swimming pool, hiking and biking trails and full-service RV campsites that help keep your stay comfortable.

The kids will also love camping among the palm trees at Everglades Holiday Park. This campground offers comfortable campsites on Fort Lauderdale's west side, just minutes away from the Everglades.

One more fascinating possibility is Chokoloskee Island Park, three miles from Everglades City. Right in the heart of Everglades life, this is the perfect RV camping spot for avid fishermen. Whether you plan to kayak, fish or bike your way through the Everglades, this park is an ideal starting point.

Every motorhome camper should experience the mystery of Florida's Everglades National Park at least once. With so many miles to explore and an awesome abundance of wildlife, there's no way to stay bored once you're there.

Our Miami, Florida El Monte RV Rentals office is standing by to help you choose a comfortable motorhome for your stay. Head for the Everglades, so you can finally hear your family say, "Let's come back here next year!"

RV Vacation Heaven Along Florida's Big Bend Coastline

Nature's Coast RV ResortNature's Coast RV Resort is nestled comfortably in the charm of Old Florida, just a few short minutes to the emerald Gulf of Mexico and the tannin-colored waters of the Steinhatchee River. Located in beautiful, pristine and unspoiled Steinhatchee/Jena, Florida, a visit to Nature's Coast RV Resort will put you in the middle of a string of counties studded with emerald-like gulf waters, deep springs and rivers that stretch along the Florida's Big Bend coastline.

Manatee Springs State ParkTake a day trip to one of several nearby Parks (Fanning Springs, Manatee Springs, Ginnie Springs, and more), featuring some of the largest natural springs in the world. For more information on the springs see:
Enjoy hiking, cycling, fishing, birding, camping, and remember to bring your picnic basket. For birding fans, be sure to check out the West Florida Section of the Great Florida Birding Trail.

Whether you choose to cast from a dock or venture into the Gulf for inshore, offshore or fly fishing, anglers are hooked on Steinhatchee. Many local marinas rent skiff and pontoon boats, or they can arrange daily charters for saltwater fishing. Popular catches include trout, red fish, snapper, cobia and grouper.

Scalloping For an unforgettable boating experience, try your hand at scalloping from July 1 through September 10. Steinhatchee is known as the "Scalloping Capital of Florida" and boasts the most abundant supply of sea scallops in the state. Due to the popularity of scalloping, reservations should be made well in advance for both accommodations and guides, if needed. Nature's Coast RV Resort can "hook" you up with a local marina or fishing captain. And when you want water sports, visit the Gulf where canoeing, kayaking and scuba diving are popular pastimes. Canoeing and Kayaking enthusiasts can find an excellent resource in the Canoe and Kayak North Florida website.

If it is wildlife you seek, the West Indian manatee, Florida black bear, bald eagle, Florida sand hill crane, red cockaded woodpecker, least tern, gopher tortoise, Florida panther and many other mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians are some of the endangered species that call the Nature Coast home.

From the famous Suwannee to the Steinhatchee River with the unique Dixie Mainline Trail, tidal flats, and coastal marshes, Taylor and Dixie Counties are along Florida's upper Nature Coast, flooded with fun in Florida's Pure Water Wilderness.

Nature's Coast RV ResortA peaceful drive from any direction, Nature's Coast RV Resort is located on Hwy 358, approximately 90 miles south of Tallahassee, Florida and 70 miles west of Gainesville, Florida and is nestled only 1.5 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico and one of Florida's most scenic rivers, the Steinhatchee. So…take a walk on the wild side or kick back and relax at our beautiful pool, stay in shape in our fitness center, gather your family fireside, or throw some horseshoes, Nature's Coast RV Resort is the perfect place for a one-of-a-kind Florida getaway.

Other RV Campgrounds should feel free to share with us the wonders that may be found in and around their campground. Please send your article submissions to monty@elmonterv.com.
