Start Planning Your Trip - RV Camping in National Parks

Before you book your RV rental in Salt Lake City, it’s important to have a rough itinerary and know how much space you will need. These crucial details will dictate what type of RV you will need when camping in national parks. First, we recommend planning an itinerary based on the time of year you are hoping to travel, the number of days, and which parks you’d like to explore. You can start by checking out our tour itinerary and deciding if you want to include all of the national parks or just a few. Utah’s National Parks include the following:

  • Zion National Park

  • Bryce Canyon National Park

  • Capitol Reef National Park

  • Arches National Park

  • Canyonlands National Park

All of these parks are RV accessible and have designated campground areas for RVs. They also are all located within driving distance of Salt Lake City and the El Monte RV rental office

Best Time to Visit Utah’s National Parks

An important detail to decide when planning is which season you’d like to visit the parks. The good news is - all of Utah’s National Parks are open throughout the year.

Fall: During the autumn season, the temperature drops and the air becomes crisp. This is a great time of year to enjoy hiking with less crowds and easily get an RV campground reservation.

Winter: Winter is gorgeous throughout the state of Utah and especially in the national parks. However, if you are not an experienced winter hiker or RV driver, this season could be challenging. Snow, ice and freezing temperatures make hiking and driving more difficult and accident prone. However, there are fewer visitors in the winter!

Spring: Temperatures begin to warm back up and the snow melts, another perfect season for hiking. However, early in the season you can experience quite a bit of mud and the water levels are too high to hike The Narrows in Zion National Park. There are typically more visitors in the springtime compared to the winter season, but you will still beat the summer rush.

Summer: Summer in Utah is hot, typically in the 80s and 90s. Additionally, it is the most crowded season and because of this, you may have to battle crowds for trail access and book RV campground reservations well in advance.
