Highlights of the Area
- Mount Olympus: Captured by millions in their vacation photos, Mount Olympus never fails to ignite the imagination of Park visitors. Mountain hiking trails along the Hoh River through Glacier Meadows and up to the Blue Glacier will reward hikers with breathtaking vistas.
- Hurricane Ridge: Just south of Port Angeles, Hurricane Ridge Road leads into the mountains toward Hurricane Ridge Visitors Center. You’ll find numerous trails, some easily accessible and others more challenging, but all offering fantastic mountain or coastal views. Particular favorites are the High Ridge and Hurricane Hill trails.
- North Wilderness Beach Trail: For well-experienced hikers, the chance to glimpse grey whales and bald eagles is waiting along the trail from Rialto Beach to Sand Point. Just under 21 miles, this trail is definitely worth the hike!
- Hoh Rain Forest: At the foot of Mount Olympus lies this temperate rain forest, a gorgeous green experience filled with ferns, old growth trees and elk. Be sure to save time to study the history and science exhibits at the Visitors Center for an in-depth understanding of how this unique region was formed.
- Lake Crescent: More than six hundred feet deep, this beautiful blue-green lake is icy cold year-round. A favorite with RV campers, the Lake Crescent area combines great facilities with pristine lakeside wilderness for the ultimate outdoor vacation experience. Be sure to hike to Marymere Falls or challenge yourself on the rugged trail up Mt. Storm King!
- Sol Duc: Home to mineral springs, flower-filled meadows and great RV camping, Sol Duc Valley is another Park favorite. If you’re lucky enough to be there in autumn, hike to Salmon Cascades to watch the coho salmon move upstream to spawn.
