RV Rental Idea: Oxnard, CA Strawberry Festival!

May 16-17, 2009

This sweet, annual event has something for everyone! Included in the admission price are free rides and attractions, shows and exhibits. And, what's a festival without music! Musical styles range from classic rock to country to Zydeco to Latin salsa, to rhythm and blues and more.

For the arts and crafts lover in you, the festival will feature artists from approximately 10 states showcasing photography, oil paintings, jewelry, woodworking, ceramics and more!

And, don't forget the main attraction: strawberries served any way you can imagine! The kids won't want to miss taking their pictures or getting a prize from Strawberry Shortcake, the official Berryfest Princess of Strawberryland!

RV Recipe of the Month

Fifteen-minute Salsa Shrimp

Ingredients:

1 can (8-oz.) tomato sauce

1/2 cup chunky salsa

1 cup water

2 cans (5-oz ea) small shrimp *

1 1/2 cups instant rice (uncooked)

Directions:

~ Combine the first four ingredients in a saucepan and stir to mix.

~ Simmer for 10 minutes.

~ Stir in rice, cover and remove from heat.

~ Let sit for five minutes, stir and serve.

Serves 4

* Fresh shrimp may be used. Shell and clean about 18 medium-size shrimp. Cut into bite size pieces and simmer in sauce until they turn pink. This may not take the full 10 minutes. Do not overcook. Add rice, remove from heat, cover and let sit for five minutes before serving. (Serves 4)
