There are many historical sites that are devoted to Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, but none that are described as their "Beloved Island".
This park, on the Canadian island of Campobello, is jointly owned and administered by the United States and Canada and is a place where the Roosevelt's spent summers to relax and rejuvenate. This 34-room "cottage" was originally a wedding gift to Franklin and Eleanor.
In addition to viewing and learning about the cottage, be sure to have Tea with Eleanor (seating is limited). Explore trails and drives for spectacular scenic views. There are also many other points of interest that are worth exploring as well.
Please note that as this park is located in Canada, you will need a passport to travel there.
The closest El Monte RV rental locations are in the Boston, MA area. However, if starting your trip from another location is more convenient, we also have many other rental offices, so please visit our locations map to find a location that may be more suitable.

RV Recipe of the Month
Blueberry Dump Cake
Ingredients:
1 large can crushed pineapple, with juice
3 cups fresh blueberries
3/4 cup sugar
1 box yellow cake mix
1 cup butter, melted
1 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
Directions:
~ Melt 1 tbs butter in a 10" or 12" Dutch oven.
~ Add pineapple with juice and blueberries, cover with sugar and top with cake mix.
~ Add ingredients in that order and DO NOT STIR!
~ Drizzle with remaining butter (melted), and top with pecans.
~ Bake 1/2 hour on medium hook, raise to one higher hook, add top coals and bake an additional 10-15 minutes until bubbly - then remove from fire and set on cooking table to continue baking until browned on top.
~ About 1 hour total baking time.
Oven Directions: Bake in 9" x 13" baking dish at 350 for approximately one hour.

You can request the carbon offset option when you reserve via the call center, or when picking up at the rental counter. It's easy, affordable, and every cent of this nominal fee goes straight to Terra Pass to fund various carbon-offsetting programs.
