State Fairs - RV Vacation Idea

RV Vacations to State Fairs

Where do we start to sing the praises of the American State Fair experience? There’s literally something for every age group at the State Fairs our customers visit. From up-close encounters with livestock to first-run concert offerings, America’s State Fairs are a sight to behold for the savvy RV traveler.

What a fun way to spend a family vacation!  With so much to do and see, there will surely be something for everyone to enjoy!

Arrive at the Fair in style, whether in Austin, Texas or Springfield, Illinois, and start experiencing! Taste the food, thrill to the carnival and collapse in your comfy RV with an armload of memories. You owe it to yourself, and your family, to visit our nation’s State Fairs in a rented motorhome from El Monte RV!

Many state fairs offer on-site RV camping.  Please be sure to check the event's website for information.  Otherwise, please check our camping reservation portal for area camping information.

We hope you’ll plan at least one State Fair visit as you travel the nation in an El Monte RV. Take a spin on a Ferris wheel and join the excitement of blue ribbon winners. Watch stock car racing, horse shows and livestock judging. Indulge in regional foods, walk the midway under the stars, and celebrate the very best each State has to offer. State Fairs are a fantastic way to learn what makes every State in the Union great.

To help prepare for your State Fair RV trip, we’ve put together some State Fair trivia to ponder: The New York State Fair is the oldest State Fair in the nation, beginning in 1841!

  • One of the most popular food items at “Big Tex”, the Texas State Fair, is the Fried Banana Split!
  • The Ohio State Fair features cheerleading, martial arts and “extreme wheelchair” competitions.
  • The two-week California State Fair attracts nearly one million visitors each year!
  • The official “mascot” of the Oregon State Fair is The Big (12 foot) Tomato.
  • Massachusetts’ “Big E” celebration features a Mardi Gras parade and its own signature Cream Puff Bakery!
  • The Illinois State Fair features some of the fastest dirt track harness racing in the world.
  • The kazoo was first introduced to a large audience at the 1852 Georgia State Fair. That Fair now boasts several kazoo competitions!

Ready to create your own family’s State Fair trivia? Our RV rental customers tell us some of their best memories were made exploring the attractions at a State Fair. And the best part of all is coming home each night to the comfort of an RV!

Here’s a great site with links to State Fairs in every state of the union! Click on your favorite state, find out how easy it is to camp close to the fairgrounds, and call us to arrange an RV rental during the Fair. Don’t miss an American classic!
