Are There Additional Costs Beyond the Nightly Rental Rate?

If you’re planning your next RV adventure, one of the first questions you may have is: "Are there extra costs beyond the nightly rental rate?" At El Monte RV, we believe in transparent pricing, and we want you to feel confident in understanding all the factors that can affect the total cost of your RV rental. 

Below is a detailed guide to what might be included—or not—in your rental, so you can plan with peace of mind. 

Nightly Rental Rate: What It Covers and When It Varies

The nightly rental rate is your base charge for renting the RV—but this rate can vary depending on several factors: 

  • Seasonality: Rates are often higher during peak travel seasons like summer and major holidays, and lower during off-season months (typically fall and winter, depending on location).
  • Special Events: Popular events like music festivals, national sporting events, or regional gatherings can drive up demand and pricing.
  • RV Type & Size: Larger motorhomes and premium models may have higher base rates than smaller Class C units or campervans.

Generator Usage

If your RV includes a built-in generator, you may need it when camping without hookups. We offer unlimited generator usage for our guests!

Cleaning & Dumping Fees

  • Standard Cleaning Fee: Included when returned in clean condition.
  • Excessive Cleaning or Smoking Fee: Up to $250
  • Tank Dumping Service: ~$75 if you choose not to empty the tanks before return

Insurance & Security Deposit

All  RV rentals require insurance. At El Monte RV, we offer: 

  • Collision Damage Waiver
  • Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)
  • Trip Protection Plans

Pricing varies by coverage, but options typically start at $14.95–$29.95 per day. 

A refundable security deposit (usually $1,000) is also required at pickup and returned after inspection if no damage is found. 

Fuel, Propane, and Campground Fees

Your fuel and propane usage are not included in the rental rate. Most RVs must be returned with: 

  • A full gas tank
  • A full propane tank (or you can prepay for refills)

You are also responsible for your campsite reservations, which vary in cost depending on the location and amenities.
