South Carolina RV Camping Destinations
Did we mention the Blue Ridge Mountains? If you’ve never seen them, there’s no way to prepare yourself for the mystery and beauty these mountains contain. Camped in your RV, deep in a hollow, is true camping paradise. Unlike any other in the U.S., the Blue Ridge Mountains will call the RV camper again and again.
But if the beach is your “happy place”, how could you go wrong at Myrtle Beach? An area rich with sea life, the Myrtle Beach visitors’ center gives a glimpse into dolphins and sea turtles your kids will remember for years.
Beach and ocean, mountains and lakes, South Carolina has something new to do every day of your vacation. Get on the road in your rental RV, there’s a whole state waiting to be discovered!
National Parks
Families who love the great outdoors are going to want to spend time at Congaree National Forest. Old growth forests and plentiful waterways make it the perfect spot for kayaking, canoeing and hiking.
Along the coast, Fort Sumner, Fort Moultrie and the Charles Pinckney National Historic Site are a history lesson waiting to be learned! Visit scenic coastal byways while learning the role the Palmetto State played in our nation’s history.

Major Attractions and Events
When we say “South Carolina”, we hope you think of great college football! The tailgate party opportunities are endless for RV campers during football season, with Charleston South University, South Carolina University, Coastal Carolina University, Clemson University, and the University of South Carolina all fielding fantastic teams!
RV campers with a passion for NASCAR racing will love the wild and wooly Darlington Raceway. Remember, the race is only half the experience, with tailgate action starting early and ending late when you bring your own kitchen in an RV!
But football and NASCAR aren’t all there is to do in South Carolina. Jump into a bucket of oysters at Charleston’s Lowcountry Oyster Festival every January! How about three days of grits every way you can eat them? That’s what you’ll find at the World Grits Festival in St. George! One more ‘don’t miss’ food festival—the Ridge Peach Festival every June in Trenton features live entertainment, a parade, and, of course, every kind of peach dessert imaginable!
You say you’d like to include an amusement park in your RV trip? Why not visit Paramount’s Carowinds in Charlotte? With 200 campsites in their Camp Wilderness Resort, you won’t need to worry about where to park that RV. Another park worth mentioning is Adventureland on Hilton Head Island, where you’ll find mini golf, arcades and even dolphin adventures to experience!
For waterpark fans, Discoveryland in Greenville is a perfect stop on your motorhome jaunt. Wild Water and Wheels at Myrtle Beach is another great place for waterpark fun!
