Frequently Asked Questions
Insurance & Protection
Understanding your RV rental insurance and protection options can help you prepare for the unexpected before you hit the road. El Monte RV offers liability insurance and optional protection products designed to address different types of financial responsibility during your rental. Explore our FAQs to learn about Rental Liability Insurance (RLI), Enhanced Liability Insurance (ELI), Vehicle Incident Protection (VIP) and VIP Plus. Find information about liability coverage, accidental RV damage, deductibles and how each option may help reduce your financial responsibility, subject to applicable terms, conditions and exclusions.
RLI is Primary Third-Party Liability Insurance up to required financial responsibility limits. It protects the renter from claims up to state minimums if the renter damages someone else’s property or injures someone with the motorhome.
ELI extends RLI by increasing auto liability coverage beyond state minimum financial responsibility limits, providing additional coverage up to $500,000 for third-party bodily injury and/or property damage claims.
VIP reduces the deductible to $1,500 per occurrence for accidental damage to the motorhome, subject to conditions and exclusions. Without VIP, renters are responsible for full repair and downtime costs.
VIP Plus is optional and reduces the renter’s financial responsibility for covered physical damage to $0, subject to exclusions. It is not insurance.
